- Hit and runs;
- DUI / DWI;
- Disabled vehicles resulting from an accident;
- Accidents with injuries or a fatality;
- Drivers without a license, proof of insurance, or registration;
- Uncooperative drivers; and
- Other disturbances that merit a police response.
Concerns have been raised that this move toward people policing their own actions and "doing the right thing" can result in exaggerated or understated accident claims, and inaccurate reporting.
For example, soft tissue injuries are not visible and do not always cause immediate pain. If you or a loved one is in an accident, suffer an injury, and do not collect the correct accident data, you could end up reducing your chances of seeking out and winning compensation for your injuries.
