Las Vegas Pedestrian Fatalities up 3%
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has reported over 35 pedestrian fatalities in 2013. This is a 3% increase from previous years (2011 and 2012).
To help reduce the number of pedestrian deaths, LVMPD shared the following pedestrian safety tips:
- Make yourself visible.
- Cross streets safely.
- Make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
- Obey traffic controls at intersections.
- Do not walk distracted, put phones away.
- Hold kid's hands and pet's leashes to keep them from running into traffic.
