Nevada Interstate Closed Near Nevada / Arizona Border

Interstate 15 (I-15) was closed today near the state border between Nevada and Arizona due to a serious car accident. The Arizona Department of Transportation reported that the freeway was reopened around 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon.

Tractor-trailer Spills Fuel Causing Road Closures on Nevada I-15


Las Vegas, NV. (May 30, 2013) -- A tractor-trailer accident on Nevada I-15 shutdown two lanes near the Sahara Avenue exit earlier this morning. Lanes were reopened a few hours later after a crew was able to clean-up a fuel spill that resulted from the accident.

Nevada Traffic Fatalities Count at 108

Las Vegas, Nevada (May 29, 2013) -- The Nevada Department of Transportation is promoting a "Zero Fatalities" safe roads program to help reduce the number of  Nevada traffic fatalities in 2013.  There were an estimated 258 traffic fatalities that occurred on Nevada roads in 2012.

As of today, there have been 108 Nevada traffic fatalities.  Motorist are being asked to do their part to help keep this number from increasing by: focusing on the road, clicking your seat belt, watching out for pedestrians, stopping on red, and not driving impaired or distracted.

Nevada I-15 weekend lane closure after driver collides into NHP vehicle

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and a driver who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol, were sent to the hospital after their cars collided on I-15 over the weekend. The impact from the vehicle collision caused both cars to spin out and resulted in multiple lane closures.

Work Vehicle Crashes into Sedan on Nevada I-15 Resulting in Traffic Delays and Injuries

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) states that a 28-year-old male driver was traveling southbound on I-15 when a commercial truck slammed into the back of his sedan.  Both drivers were taken to University Medical Center (UMC) for injuries as a result of the early morning freeway vehicle crash at Blue Diamond Road.

Henderson woman struck by semi-truck died from fatal injuries

A 37-year-old Henderson, Nevada woman died from fatal injuries received after she was struck by a semi-truck.  According to the Nevada Highway Patrol she was walking southbound along U.S. 95 when she was hit.

One of the deadliest weeks for teenage car accidents in Las Vegas

The end of the school year in Las Vegas Valley schools marks the beginning of increased risks for summer teenage auto accidents.  Contributing factors to this increased time of risk include Memorial Day weekend and graduation parties.

Parents are encouraged to enforce stricter driving rules for their teen drivers to promote safer driving habits and to help reduce teen related car accidents. Nevada I-15 head-on car crash results in three dead and four injured

A driver heading northbound in the southbound lanes on Nevada I-15 near North Las Vegas collided head-on with another vehicle. The head-on car crash resulted in one passenger and both drivers being killed.

Las Vegas good samaritan critically injured on U.S. 95 attempting to help others

A Las Vegas man was critically injured on U.S. 95 this morning as he attempted to assist others in a two-car accident. Nevada Highway Patrol reported that the man had gotten out of his car to help with the Las Vegas car accident when he was struck by another vehicle.

Las Vegas father uses garden hose to try to extinguish house fire

A sleeping family of six were alerted to their home being on fire when a passerby used their car horn to alert them of danger. The northwest Las Vegas home was left uninhabitable by the fire leaving the family homeless.

Las Vegas House Fire Starts in Kitchen

A kitchen fire in Las Vegas, NV, causes $75,000 worth of damage. LV Fire fighters were able to contain the stove top fire quickly.

One teenager killed and one left critically injured in Mother's Day car wreck

Early Mother's Day car wreck results in one teenager dead and another with critical injuries after a traffic collision in North Las Vegas.  Officers arrested an 18-year-old male for failure to use due care and failure to obey traffic control devices.  Evidence found at the scene suggests that the at-fault driver ran a stop sign before colliding with the other vehicle.

Reckless driving may have caused deadly I-15 rollover

A fatal rollover accident involving a pick-up truck closed southbound traffic on I-15 near Sloan, Nevada, for a few hours this morning. The truck is reported to have been traveling northbound when it crossed the center median into southbound traffic, rolled and ejected the 21-year-old male driver.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP). The cause of the accident is under investigation, but preliminary reports state that a mix of reckless driving and no seat belt may have contributed to the deadly one vehicle wreck. Las Vegas Tourist Hit by Motorcycle was Critically Injured

A Las Vegas tourist from San Angelo, TX, was critically injured after he was hit by a 21-year-old male motorcyclist while he attempted to cross Flamingo Road a few blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip. The pedestrian was outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit around 3 a.m. on May 8, 2013. The motorcycle rider was thrown from his bike after impact.

Wheelchair Rider Fatality is 41st Traffic-Related Death in 2013 for LV Metro PD

Tragedy strikes the southwest valley of Las Vegas after a 56-year-old man was hit by a driver as he attempted to cross an intersection in his motorized wheelchair.  Reports state that another vehicle had stopped to let the man cross and that the driver of a Chrysler 300 kept going and collided with him.

Wrong-Way Car Crash on Nevada Highway Results in 4 Fatalities

Less than two hours before midnight on Sunday four people lost their lives in a head-on car crash on U.S. 95, about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. Both vehicles caught fire making it difficult for authorities to identify the driver of the Buick and the three victims of the van they hit.

Fatal Single-Car Accident in North Las Vegas

An early morning car accident in North Las Vegas resulted in one death and a serious injury.  The 22-year-old female driver was thrown from the car and rushed to UMC with severe injuries. The 23-year-old male passenger was killed.
